• A classic straight cut, just tapering slightly from the knee down. The fit stays tidy and unfussy, narrowing just enough below the knee. Bang on the sweet spot for comfort and style—it lands bang on the shoe. In case you're wondering, the hem opening holds at 19.5cm: right on the money for a tailored pair of trousers.
• A pressed crease with proper backbone. It runs the length of the trousers, from hem to waistband, doing clever things for the silhouette. Ironed in by design – though if it's not your thing, one circuit with the iron and it's gone. Up to you, but for our money, it has twice the character with the crease intact.
• A touch of pleat goes a long way. Speaking of things going up, the pleat either side of the fly increases the vertical lines on show. It's not just a pretty detail — a pleat builds in extra room around the thighs, which helps when you sit. That way, the only thing getting squeezed is your coffee.

• Fresco® — built like a tank. Fresco® is spun from several high-twist Merino wool yarns before even hitting the loom. All that twisting gives the fabric bags of personality — lively texture, crease resistance, the lot. The big story, though? It's tough as old boots. Your suit won't flinch, not even after years of service.
• HMD doesn't mess about. We chose our Romanian factory for the 4-Season Suits because, quite simply, it's an institution. Suits have been their bread and butter for decades; top-drawer finishing's second nature for the team. Every detail's handled: the hook and button fastening on the waistband, reinforcement at all stress points, belt loops built to last, a hardy nylon zip, welted pockets, a silicone grip inside the waistband so your shirt won't leg it every five minutes - it's all taken care of.
• The beauty of Merino wool. You already know the drill – it's simply nature's most high-performing fibre. Out of all its magic tricks, it's self-cleaning and resists odours, so you can skip the endless rigmarole of washing. A spin at the dry cleaner every ten to fifteen wears and you're sorted. Pro tip: when dry cleaning, always take both pieces of your suit in to keep them ageing at the same rate. That way, they'll never look mismatched.
