British class, Italian swagger
Woven in Huddersfield, our 4-Season Suit is firmly rooted in the British tradition of understated elegance. Still, we couldn’t resist stirring in a dash of sprezzatura to shake things up. Here’s what that looks like:
- A fit that’s tailored, not slim. Slightly waisted to accentuate your chest and shoulders without making you look like a bouncer.
- Generous lapels. 8.5cm across, a nod to Italian swagger without compromising the general British restraint. The sweet spot between a full-blooded 10cm lapel and its more apologetic counterparts.
- A shoulder line inspired by Naples. We’re suckers for soft, Southern Italian construction over heavier British tailoring. Ours hangs easy, sits naturally, and is much easier to wear.
With the right care, it might just be
Not only is this suit built for all four seasons, but it’s seriously tough. Thanks to what? You guessed it:
- Fresco® – the fabric that laughs in the face of wear and tear. Here’s how it’s made: several high-twist Merino yarns get put through their paces, then tightly woven together. The result? That trademark lively weave with a crisp finish. More importantly, it shrugs off creases and just keeps going, season after season. Your jacket’s in it for the long haul.
- HMD means business. We’ve picked out a Romanian factory for our 4-Season Suits that’s as close as it gets to tailoring royalty. They’ve been making two-piece suits for longer than most of us have been alive, and the team knows all the tricks of the trade. The half-canvas construction layers canvas through the chest, you get quality lining, felt undercollar, twin vents at the back, a chest welt pocket, two flap pockets, three inside pockets, and the real deal — kissing buttons on the cuffs. Every detail is painstakingly stitched, beautifully engineered, and a testament to proper craft.
- The beauty of Merino wool. You know the deal — it’s hands-down the highest performing natural fibre. The list of its talents is exhaustive, but here’s a practical one: it’s self-cleaning and resists odours, meaning less faff to care for. Dry clean once every 10 to 15 wears. And a word to the wise: always take both parts of your suit to the dry cleaners so that your jacket and trousers age at the same rate.
Top of the pile
You’re probably on first-name terms with a few of the Asphalte tailoring range by now. We’ve brought out the Fresco Suit for the long, hot months, the Winter Suit for proper British weather, the Linen Suit for the bold, even the Slack Suit when you’re after a slightly looser option. Enter the 4-Season Suit — the missing piece in the sartorial puzzle. It’s always ready for action: any month, every boardroom, any knees-up or the odd Wimbledon final. This really is the everyday suit. All it wants is a spot in your wardrobe.
How does preordering work?
Basically, it means you buy the garment before it’s produced. By pre‑ordering, you’re the one launching the production.
With this system, we only produce what’s sold, so we avoid overproduction and can offer you an excellent quality‑price ratio.
